Double- or two-row Tapered bearings feature double cups and two single cones. Double- or two-row Tapered bearings are available in a variety of configurations for general industrial and automotive applications.

Four-row Tapered bearings combine the inherent high-load, radial/thrust capacity and direct/indirect mounting variables of Tapered bearings into assemblies of maximum load rating in minimum space.

Tapered bearings are angular contact bearings comprised of separate components (cones and cups), facilitating installation. By design they are suitable for combined loading. They can sustain very high loads (axial load in one direction) and tolerate slight misalignment.

Always fitted oppositely with a skf bearing of the same nature, they provide high assembly stiffness, particularly when pre-loaded. Their load capacity associated with their versatility makes them the second most commonly used items, after radial-contact ball bearings.

Tapered bearings, according to the row number of rollers, are defined as single row, double row and four row. The single row Tapered bearings clearance should be adjusted when they are mounted. For double row and four row Tapered bearings, the clearance can be provided when assembling them according to national standards, customers don't need to adjust it.

The Tapered bearings mainly carry radial, axial combined load with radial load in the main. The capacity of axial load carrying depends on the contact angle of outer rings' raceway. The bigger the contact angle is, the greater the capacity will be.The iko bearings are mainly used in metallurgy, mining, rolling mills, automobiles, machines, plastics and other industries.

Combined cylindrical roller/Tapered bearings, also referred to as "Kombi" bearings, have been developed by SKF. They comprise two single row cylindrical roller bearings and one double row tapered roller bearing, and support radial loads and axial loads separately. The outer cylindrical roller bearings have high load carrying capacity and are only subjected to radial loads. The cylindrical rollers are guided between two integral flanges on the inner ring, whilst the low flange on the inboard side of the outer ring serves to hold the bearing together until it is mounted. The tapered roller bearing with steep contact angle positioned between the two cylindrical roller bearings has two rows of rollers in a face-to-face arrangement and takes the axial load.

These "Kombi" bearings are employed as work roll bearings on four-high stands of both hot and cold rolling mills and of cold sheet rolling mills. Increased demands with respect to the quality and accuracy of the rolled product as well as further developments in the production process for sheet steel involving the introduction of contra-bending and axial displacement of the rolls have meant that work roll bearing loads have been considerably increased. This means that the four-row Tapered bearings normally used as work roll bearings can often not meet the requisite life demands because of the much heavier radial and axial loads applied.

NSK Taper Roller Bearings can support high radial loads and axial loads in a single direction. Also available in two and four row versions which are capable of taking axial loads in either direction. These bearings can be supplied with high strength cages (optimised designs) and in a range of advanced special materials for arduous applications.NSK range of Taper Roller Bearings include: single row taper roller bearings, double row "taper bearings" , four row taper roller bearings, Molded-OilTM bearings, etc.
